Installation

Outrider now offers compatibility with Hammerhead head units with our new Karoo extension. Use the link below to download the APK file for side loading onto your Karoo.

If using the Karoo3, you can install the extension via the Hammerhead companion app. To do so, hold down on the download link below (on mobile), then share it with the Hammerhead companion app. You will then be prompted to install the extension and it will install on your Karoo. For more information on how to side load extensions onto Karoo3 devices, please see this article from Hammerhead support.

On other Karoo versions, extensions are side loaded via a USB connection to your computer. If you have not side loaded extensions before, check out this article by DC Rainmaker for an in-depth walk through.

Usage

The Outrider Karoo Extension will allow you to find and connect your Outrider TL and TL Pro sensors to your Karoo for real-time pressure monitoring while you ride. After installing the extension on your device, use the menu to navigate to 'Extensions' and open the Outrider extension. You will be prompted to authorize Bluetooth permissions for the extension. Bluetooth permissions are necessary for the extension to search for and connect to Outrider sensors. In the app interface, you can also select your preferred pressure unit, alert tones, and optionally disable low-pressure alerts.

Connecting Sensors

To connect Outrider sensors to the Karoo, use the menu to navigate to 'Sensors' and hit the '+' button in the bottom right of the screen. Once a sensor has been found, you will see the 'Extensions' tab appear at the top of the page, in which you will find the available Outrider devices. Tip: if you're having trouble finding your Outrider sensors, make sure they are not already connected to your mobile phone or other device. Outrider sensors can only connect to one central device at a time.

Select the device(s) you would like to pair and hit the checkmark in the bottom right corner to connect. Once connected, you will be able to see your sensors saved on the 'Sensors' page. Now your Outrider sensors will automatically reconnect to the Karoo whenever the device is powered on.

Setting up Data Fields

The Outrider Karoo Extension offers 3 custom fields: Front Tire Pressure, Rear Tire Pressure, and Tire Pressure (both front and rear in the same field). The double field offers a familiar layout to the Outrider mobile app and Garmin data field, while the individual fields allow for further customization of the layout.

Adjust the arrangement of the fields to your liking and you're all set!
